What exactly counts as "dark romance" on this site?
We define dark romance as books containing explicit content, morally gray characters, taboo themes, and potentially triggering scenarios. Every book in our catalog features content that some readers might find disturbing—that’s why we’re so detailed with our content warnings. If it’s here, it’s properly dark (not just spicy romance with a broody hero).
How do you verify the content warnings?
We work directly with authors to confirm content warnings, while also conducting our own thorough analysis. We prioritize accuracy above all—because we know your reading boundaries matter.
Will I get spoilers when I look at the content warnings?
We have two sets of trigger lists on each book page. The first trigger list displays the trigger without context. The second (marked with a “SPOILERS” alert) contains a detailed account of the triggers with context, which could include possible spoilers.
How do I filter books on your website?
On our book catalog pages, you’ll see filter options on the left side. You can check/uncheck different content warnings, tropes, and authors to only show books matching your criteria. The filters update in real-time as you select options. Click “Clear All” to start fresh.
Do you have an app or can I save books to read later?
While we don’t have a dedicated app yet, you can create a free account on our website to save your favorite books to a personalized reading list. Just click the “Save to TBR” heart button on any book page, or any search/catalogue page! You can then find your TBR list on the menu bar (just look out for the little heart) or on the footer under “Reader Tools”.
What data do you collect and how is it used?
We collect basic website usage data to study traffic patterns and improve the user experience. For subscribed members, we also store your newsletter preferences to customize recommendations. We never share or sell any of this data. You can read our full privacy policy here.
How often is the newsletter sent out?
Our main newsletter goes out daily! During the week we feature new releases and spotlights on dark romance books we think you should know about. On Sunday, we send out a newsletter featuring popular older titles that our readers are currently raving about.
Can I filter out specific triggers but still see other dark content?
At the moment our filtering system allows you to search for specific triggers. Triggers are also available for every book you view, so you can easily see if there is a book you need to avoid. We are working on a way to exclude certain triggers. More info coming soon!
I'm an author—how can I get my book listed?
We welcome submissions from all dark romance authors! Visit our Author Portal to submit your book along with your own content warnings. Our team will review your submission, potentially add additional tags, and add your book to our catalog. Featured listing options are available after basic approval.
Can I leave a review for a book?
At the bottom of every book’s detail page, there’s a “Leave a Review” section. Just click that, and you’ll be able to submit your own review and rating for that title. Reviews from real readers help others decide what to read next!
I saw a note about an Amazon affiliate account - what's that?
Yes, we are an Amazon affiliate, which means we make a small commission if you purchase a book after clicking one of the Amazon links on our site. This comes at no extra cost to you. We use any affiliate earnings to maintain the website and database.
Are there any costs or subscription fees?
No, our core book database and discovery tools are completely free for all users. Our newsletter is also free! (You can sign up here)
