Don’t Say Mafia

Jagger Thatcher just redefined “if he wanted to, he would” — Vegas mafia boss clocks a married cocktail waitress across a casino floor and decides she’s his before she’s even said a word to him. This one’s giving stalker-with-a-body-count energy, complete with tracking chips and drugged vitamins, wrapped in a found-family bromance that has everyone already begging for the friend group’s books. It’s less “bleak and gutting” and more “unhinged and hilarious” — the banter is top tier, the possessiveness is feral, and her husband’s convenient death is played for chaos, not tragedy. Go in with eyes open on the drugging and the control-freak tactics, but if obsessed morally-grey mob bosses who solve problems with a body count are your thing, Jagger’s calling your name. One-click before book two.

Book Description

The Vale Syndicate runs Las Vegas.

I know. I helped build it.

Behind the neon lights and luxury casinos is a kingdom built on secrets, violence, and loyalty written in blood.

Power like that changes a man, it turns him ruthless.

It turns him into someone who takes what he wants and doesn’t apologize for it.

Then I met Eden Thorne.

She’s beautiful…married…and completely off-limits.

She’s everything a man like me should stay away from.

The problem?

Men who build criminal empires don’t walk away from the things they want.

And once I decided Eden belonged to me…

There was no world where I was giving her back.

Not even to her husband.

*Note: Jagger Thatcher is a morally grey antihero who is obsessed with his girl and will do anything to keep her.

Don’t Say Mafia is a mafia romance standalone from USA Today and International Bestselling Author C.R. Jane.

Content Warnings

Heads up on a few things: Eden's husband ends up dead partway through (murder, engineered by the MMC), and there's a lot of on-page mafia violence tied to that. Jagger tracks and monitors Eden extensively — implants, chips, trackers sewn into her clothes — and at one point drugs her vitamins so he can be with her while she sleeps, which lands squarely in dub-con/somnophilia territory. Expect heavy manipulation and controlling behavior from the MMC throughout, plus some messy "still technically married" tension that reviewers flagged as emotional infidelity even though there's no on-page cheating drama or love triangle payoff. Nothing here is played as grim or gory — it's framed with a lot of humor — but if drugging, stalking, or "husband conveniently removed" plotlines are hard no's for you, know that going in.
