My name is Silas. You might know me from the evening news, or perhaps from the true crime podcast my girlfriend hosts (she doesn’t know she’s my girlfriend yet, but we’re working on it).

The old me would have removed the obstacle with a hunting knife. But the new me—the suitor, the romantic—knows that won’t work. I can’t just kill the competition; I have to outclass him.
